Synopsis
Shen Weilan had just opened her eyes, still reeling from the terror of nearly drowning, when she heard the familiar voice of her maid, Caiping, whispering beside her: “The legitimate daughter of the Prime Minister’s household has finally fallen into the water. If she dies, perfect the Shen family will be ruined, and the male lead, Gu Yanran, will be mine. My transmigration mission is basically in the bag.” Wiping the water from her face, Shen Weilan turned pale. She had merely suffered an accidental slip, only to discover that her own personal maid was a “transmigrator,” and that she herself was the female lead destined to die in the maid’s script. Fortunately, this brush with death granted her the ability to read minds and as luck would have it, she could hear the depraved schemes of these transmigrators. Seeing that Shen Weilan hadn’t died as expected, Caiping reached out to hand her a cup of tea, while secretly plotting in her mind: “Since I couldn’t drown her, I’ll just have to poison her instead.” Shen Weilan swatted the cup away, smiling as she pushed it back across the table. “Caiping, how is it that after all these months, you’ve forgotten which tea I prefer?” Just as Caiping’s poisoning scheme was thwarted, things took an even more absurd turn. Shen Weilan began hearing her mother’s inner thoughts: “I need to skim some silver from the Prime Minister’s estate; that should be enough for me to live comfortably in this ancient era forever.” Her younger half-sister was cursing internally: “Once Shen Weilan is dead, the position of the Prime Minister’s legitimate daughter will be mine.” Even a young noble from the capital was thinking: “If I marry Shen Weilan, I’ll become the male lead, and my mission will be complete.” With transmigrators popping up everywhere like mushrooms after a rainstorm, Shen Weilan could only roll her eyes. Following clues from Caiping’s inner monologue, she tracked down the male lead, Gu Yanran. As Gu Yanran arrived in the capital to report for duty, the mu*derous aura he usually carried was completely suppressed. After hearing her account of the transmigrators, he raised an eyebrow and teased, “I truly thought Miss Shen was naive and unaware of everything.” “And I thought General Gu was only good for fighting and killing, knowing nothing of these matters,” Shen Weilan retorted. The two hit it off immediately, working together to lead this crowd of transmigrators on a merry chase. When the transmigrators realized Shen Weilan was difficult to handle, they turned their greedy sights toward Gu Yanran, their mental abacuses clicking away: “As long as I can hook the male lead, isn’t the role of the female lead just within my grasp?” “Once Gu Yanran is dead, won’t Shen Weilan have to come with me obediently?” Listening to these inner voices, Shen Weilan let out a light, helpless laugh. “Everyone, whatever you’re thinking… I can hear you loud and clear.”
