I was the Tanhua personally chosen by His Majesty, and by imperial decree I was wed to Princess Heyi. But on our wedding day, a lone wandering soul possessed my body. Using my body, he frequented brothels, drank heavily, and wasted his days in depravity. In the princess’s residence, he favored concubines over his wife and humiliated the princess by every means possible. The princess died in the sixth year of our marriage. She was forced to drink a potion that would leave her barren and miscarried. Gazing at the snow piled up outside the window, she was haggard with illness, no longer looking human.
